I have more student debt then I can handle. Are there grants or anything that I can apply for, that would help pay down my debt?
Joey, you should check out our eBook "100+ Ways To Get Rid Of Your Student Loans (Without Repaying Them)." That includes every available loan forgiveness program that we could find. These are probably the closest things to "grants" available to help borrowers manage their debt. See if you qualify for anything.
If you don't, another option may be to change your repayment plan. If you have federal student loans, you can apply for monthly payments based on your income, family size, and amount of debt. Payments can be as little as $0, and after a set number of payments and years (20 or 25), your remaining loan balance can be forgiven. Here's some more info: Student Loan Application For IBR, ICR, PAYE, REPAYE - Salt.
Let me know if this helped.
I agree, check out that book. Your employer might also have some sort of student loan repayment. Another option could be to find a better paying job. More money would make it easier to meet all your financial requirements. Good luck!
