Separate Need From Want

This was a hard lesson for me, but I finally learned it.  When making any purchases determine whether you need the item or just want the item.  We are all great sales people when it comes to talking ourselves into purchasing something we want by convincing ourselves that it is something we need.  Do you really need a new laptop or will your current laptop suffice for now?  That sale you see advertising the lowest price ever and won't be available again will happen again no matter what the advertisement says.  Don't use that excuse.  My best method to determine want versus need is to look at the purchase with an honest friend.  If I can't sell it to them as a need, then I don't need it.
