For years, I've been trying to save up for my first home but haven't been able to do so. Between student loans and credit cards, I haven't had much money left over to save up for a down payment on a house.

I paid off my credit cards over the last year to eliminate any balances and improve my credit scores. When it comes to my student loans, I'm paying more than the minimum and making more payments than usual to lower my balance overall. At this rate, my student loans will be paid off quickly and I'll be one step closer to becoming debt free.

I'm currently saving $500-$800 a month and I see myself owning that new home sooner than I thought.
