I never prepared for college. I did not receive help or instruction on how to apply for scholarships, and when I graduated high school I did not have enough money to attend university. Not going to college was never an option I was going to consider. I began working at a construction company in order to save up money. During this time I researched scholarships. Many of them required high SAT or ACT scores so I signed up to take the SAT at a nearby high school. I used free preparation programs available on the internet and when I took the test my score was high enough to apply for the scholarship I wanted. I applied for the scholarship and for university all while still working full time and taking as many overtime hours as were available. I received a confirmation that I had been accepted and that I received the scholarship I applied for and was able to begin my college education using the scholarship, my savings, and the knowledge I gained in the real world work environment.
