I am a twenty-seven year old full time college student at Western Governors University. I graduated high school in 2006 and had no plans for the future and no intentions of continuing my education. One year after graduation I was involved in a horrific accident which nearly killed me, and consequently I spent a month in the intensive care unit of Harborview Medical Center. I suffered from a traumatic brain injury and doctors were unsure if I would ever recover enough to live on my own or drive a car again. After vocational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy along with many ups and downs I finally started my college adventure. I received my associates’ degree from Clover Park Technical College in 2013 and just finished my first year of my bachelors program. No matter what obstacles we face; there is always a way. Believe in yourself and anything is possible. I am living a better life than I could have ever dreamed.
