Problem: I signed up for way too many credit cards and way too much credit card debt. As I got older (and started paying attention) it became clear to me that only making the minimum payment was going to cost me a lot of money in interest.

Solution: I called all my credit card companies and asked them to reduce my interest rate. I've heard this works and was surprised to learn it's actually true- I had to threaten to close a couple of accounts but most lowered the rate when asked. Then I kept making the payment I had already been making. Since my minimum payment was now smaller the 'extra' money went right to principal and I'm working on paying off the cards faster. Cutting up the first credit card that I paid off was a really great feeling.
